SUE

KLAHNE

Sue Klahne, a former art director at an advertising agency, currently enjoys exploring the many mediums associated with fluid art and appreciates the freedom that comes from creating abstract art which is in contrast to her work in the graphic design field. Sue holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a major in Graphic Design. She is trained in a variety of mediums, but currently is working with fluid art techniques which range from working with acrylic and silicone, which along with paint density and manipulation, create interesting abstract pieces to working with tinted epoxy resin & a torch, creating beautiful aerial views of the ocean which rival that of Mother Nature. In addition to fine art canvases, some of Sue’s resin works can be found on her “functional art” which range from ocean inspired furniture to charcuterie boards and coasters.  Her paintings are largely inspired by the beautiful blue hues of the ocean which appeal to her senses and inspire her creativity. Sue finds inspiration in nature and traveling, whether to the Blue Ridge mountains or to the turquoise icebergs of Alaska with her husband, Ray to cruising the Caribbean with her daughter, Taylor.

Sue currently works out of her home studio in Palm City, Florida creating art for her business, Sue Klahne Custom Artwork. She creates one of a kind pieces of fine art as well as commission work.

Sue has exhibited locally in festivals, businesses, pop-up shows and gallery settings as well as opening her home studio for the Martin County Open Studio Tour. She is an active member in several local art organizations, including Soul Arts Society and the Martin Artisan’s Guild.

Sue is an advocate for Mental Health and Addiction Awareness and aims to break the stigma associated with both. She uses art to maintain personal wellness in her own life and often donates percentages of her sales to non-profits such as American Federation for Suicide Prevention or NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) She enjoys teaching others who struggle with finding a healthy outlet to channel their creativity.

Sue believes God has called her to use the talent He has given her to help others and give back to organizations which she is so passionate about.
